The Valleys of Thornihll

Bordered by Bathurst St., Rutherford Rd., Dufferin St. and Major Mackenzie Drive, The Valleys of Thornhill is a thriving and affluent suburban community with a mix of housing, great schools, parks, playgrounds and convenient amenities.

For decades, the neighbourhood consisted of farmland but with urban sprawl making its way up north over the past couple of decades, subdivision construction began here in the 2000’s, with the first homes being built and occupied by 2007.

Within the neighbourhood, you’ll find a mix of housing consisting of freehold townhouses, semi-detached and detached homes with anywhere from 1-3 garages.  Developers who have built in the area include Fernbrook, Madison, Acorn, Remington, Century Grove, Primont, Dimartino & Forest Hill Homes.

There is still a good amount of undeveloped land in the neighbourhood, with builders like Remington, Fernbrook, Greenpark and Vogue Homes having plans to build more housing.  Looking forward, the community will see high rise condos in the future,  w

ith developments planned for the corner of Marc Santi Blvd. & Ilan Ramon Drive, as well as near Dufferin & Rutherford.

The Valleys of Thornhill is also known for great schools.  Currently, there are two existing public elementary schools – Nellie McClung PS and Anne Frank PS.  There is also a private Jewish elementary School – Bialik, as well as a private Jewish High School – Tenenbaum CHAT.  Although there is currently no public high school in The Valleys of Thornhill (residents are zoned for Stephen Lewis SS which is located 5 minutes to the south in Thornhill Woods), there are plans for a future public high school near the intersection of Thomas Cook Ave. & Valley Vista Dr.

The neighbourhood benefits from numerous parks and playgrounds, with plenty of areas for young children to play.  The Carrville Mills Park on Marc Santi Blvd. features skateboarding facilities while Mill Race Park on Thomas Cook Ave. is highlighted by tennis courts and a large soccer field.  There are also numerous walking trails in the area, taking you through some of the community’s natural ravines.

The amenities for The Valleys of Thornhill are second to none.  Shopping plazas can be found throughout the area, offering everything from grocery shopping (Longo’s), health clubs (LA Fitness), a variety of restaurants (Me Va Me, What-A-Bagel, Tim Hortons) as well as smaller retailers.  There are several neighbourhood day care centres throughout the area and even a large medical building with a convenient walk-in clinic.   The neighbourhood is also anchored by the Joseph and Wolf Lebovic Jewish Community Centre, which features extensive health club facilities as well as a number of other culturally significant programming.

With a convenient location that is close to major highways (407, 404, 400), the GO Station and York Regional Transportation, is there really anything else to ask for?
